Brockdin Barr

Designer in Chief

Brockdin is a multi award-winning web site designer (best NZ music website award 2000), Tower Design Competition Winner (Ireland 2003), has taught tertiary level multimedia (MAINZ 2004-2007) and has worked in the web design studios responsible for the online presence of U2, Sting, Elvis Costello and Tom Jones.

He is an expert in front-end web design - the primary components of what makes websites look and feel great; Graphic Design for the web, HTML and CSS coding. Brockdin has a wealth of knowledge in the way the web works, from Apache - Zip files, with search engines, usability, web standards, social media and database driven content management systems in between.

Brockdin is passionate and committed to building websites that help businesses and organisations grow.

An obsessive music fan (to the point of also being a part-time songwriter) Brockdin's past includes radio presentation & playlist programming (96dot1), music press journalism (Real Groove Magazine) and several years as an audio engineer at The Radio Network in Auckland.

Brockdin enjoys at least one cup of espresso coffee per day (everyday) and has a personal blog about shipping containers used in housing construction.

Stephanie Haskell

Business Development Manager

Steph is the Catchlight's marketing, copywriting and content guru. Steph has worked professionally in marketing and now manages content, training and strategies for Catchlight clients.

Web-savvy with a broad understanding of website usability, marketing and the web development process, Steph is a specialist in making practical connections to make the web work better for Catchlight clients.

Steph is also a keen photographer and enjoys working on a portfolio of images of her family and friends, especially her daughter Bluebell.

The Catchlight Story

In 1999, former radio station music programmer, Brockdin Barr, created his first professional website. Within a year the site won the b.net Best New Zealand Music Website Award of 2000 and this recognition meant that a host of New Zealand music industry clients came knocking and Catchlight Design was born.

Back in Christchurch New Zealand in 2004 and after a working holiday that saw Brockdin in the media design studio of U2 in Ireland, Catchlight are now counted as leaders in the local field of web standard compliant website designers, adopting the web production discipline as early as 2002.

Catchlight believe in providing measurable value to clients and 'keeping it simple' when guiding clients through web technology. Catchlight have clients throughout New Zealand and in Ireland, United Kingdom, Norway and Australia.
